No afternoon classes, work in UPLB on Oct. 29

Classes and work at the University of the Philippines Los Baños in Laguna will be suspended on October 29 from 2:30 p.m. onwards for the oath-taking of Dr. Fernando Sanchez Jr. as the campus' new chancellor.

In Memorandum No. 166, Chancellor Rex Victor Cruz said the turnover and oath-taking rites will be at the Makiling Botanic Gardens at UPLB's Forestry Campus at 3 p.m.

"To allow the faculty, staff, and students to attend and witness the ceremony for the transfer of leadership from the outgoing to incoming chancellor and assumption of office of the latter, classes and work will be suspended on said date beginning 2:30 p.m.," he said.

But he said faculty members may "exercise discretion whether to postpone for a later date examinations that have been scheduled prior to the issuance of this memorandum."

Also on Oct. 29, vehicles will be stationed at the parking areas of Abelardo G. Samonte Hall (Administration Building) and Bienvenido M. Gonzalez hall (University Library), respectively, at 2 p.m.

They will bring constituents to the venue of the program.  — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
