Murder suspect stabbed to death inside North Cotabato jail facility
KIDAPAWAN CITY — A detained suspect in the killing of a mother and her daughter in Mlang, North Cotabato in 2011, was killed in a stabbing incident on Tuesday morning inside the North Cotabato District Jail in Barangay Amas.
Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) warden Jesus Singson identified the victim as Ronald Balorio, a resident of Mlang, who died instantly due to stab wounds in his neck, chest, and stomach.
Balorio was arrested in Butuan City in July where he told police authorities there he was the gunman in the killing of Lika National High School teacher Mrs. Badoy and her 18-year-old daughter while the two were walking home along the national highway in Cotabato.
Singson said jail authorities are gathering information from possible witnesses in order to identify the suspect and the motive for the slay of Balorio.
Also, Singson said authorities are investigating how the ice pick used in stabbing Balorio got inside the jail.
For his part, Mlang Mayor Joselito Pinol is urging an in-depth investigation into the fatal stabbing incident.
“Strange incident, ang napatay is a confessed gunman of a double- murder case... Ano kaya, pinapatay ng mastermind sa double murder si Oning? Just asking,” Mayor Pinol posted on his Facebook account. — Williamor A. Magbanua /LBG, GMA News
