‘Deranged man’ arrested for stabbing mother dead in Albay

Police on Thursday arrested an allegedly deranged 49-year-old man linked to the fatal stabbing of his own mother in Pio Duran town in Albay province.

The man, identified as Rogelio Llona, resisted and refused to ride a police vehicle following his arrest, GMA Bicol's Maila Aycocho reported.

Llona also insisted he had nothing to do with the killing of his mother Felomina, 72.

An investigation showed Felomina was asleep when she was suddenly stabbed in Barangay Agol in Pio Duran town last Tuesday.

While authorities are not discounting the possibility of the suspect being deranged, they have so far found no document certifying he had a mental illness.

For now, police are preparing to lodge a complaint of parricide against him. Police said it will be up to the prosecutor to handle the complaint.

"Wala naman silang maipakitang dokumento na ito ay baliw, so kailangan pa rin natin itong dalhin sa piskalya upang doon na i-resolve ang kaso," said Inspector Jonnel Averilla, chief of the Pio Duran police. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
