Sultan Kudarat police on heightened alert for Kalimudan Festival
Police in Sultan Kudarat have tightened security for the province's Kalimudan Festival that starts Monday, state-run Philippines News Agency reported Sunday.
The PNA report said police visibility was boosted in major thoroughfares and public places including the provincial capitol.
But police also appealed to people joining the celebrations to cooperate with security forces.
“We all know that Sultan Kudarat is always under threat from lawless groups; we have threats of improvised explosive device (IED); we must all be vigilant to help secure our province,” the report quoted Sultan Kudarat provincial police chief Senior Superintendent Rex dela Rosa as saying.
But he added they have enough personnel to man their posts and will have counterparts from the military for support.
The week-long celebration will be held at Isulan, the province's capital, until Nov. 22. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
