Teacher faces charges for allegedly molesting student

A school teacher in San Mateo town in Rizal province faces charges for allegedly molesting a 12-year-old student in the school where he teaches.

The complaint was lodged by a fellow teacher who allegedly saw what happened, GMA News' Cesar Apolinario reported on "Saksi" Friday night.

The colleague who lodged the complaint said the incident occurred last Oct. 15. He formally informed the local barangay two days later.

"Alam mo bro mali ang ginagawa mo, bro pinagbigyan ko lang ang bata," he said.

An initial investigation showed the student was looking for a supposed father figure, and entered into a "relationship" with the suspect.

On Friday afternoon, the suspect's colleague sought police assistance, and the police went to the student's parents to investigate.

"Pumunta kami sa bahay ng magulang para (imbitahan) na (bigyan) kami ng permiso ma-examine ang anak," said Inspector Kathleen Sanchez, head of the San Mateo police's investigation section.

The suspect and the school principal were not immediately available for comment.

Meanwhile, the suspect lodged a complaint against his colleague before the local barangay for alleged harassment. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
