200 houses damaged as storm surge hits coastal town in Leyte


At least 200 houses in two coastal barangays in Babatngon town in Leyte province were damaged after a storm surge hit the area.
 
The damaged houses were in Barangays Malibago and San Isidro, GMA News stringer Jeff Manibay reported.
 
Residents said they are running out of food even as help from authorities has yet to arrive, the report added.
 
According to the report, the storm surge damaged 80 percent of the houses along the coastline.
 
It added the storm surge injured an undetermined number of persons.
 
Debris was scattered in the barangays. Residents started to clean up the mess as the weather began to improve Monday. —Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
