Former mayor injured in Maguindanao ambush
A former mayor of a Maguindanao town was wounded after his convoy was ambushed at the boundary of Guindulungan and Talayan towns on Wednesday afternoon.
Former Datu Salibo Mayor Akmad Ampatuan and two others were injured in the attack that reportedly happened at 3 p.m. A nephew was reportedly severely wounded.
Initial information showed that Ampatuan came from Cotabato City and was on his way to Shariff Aguak when he was ambushed. He was reportedly onboard a black pick-up.
Ampatuan was immediately rushed to Shariff Aguak Hospital.
Akmad Ampatuan is the father of the Shariff Aguak officer-in-charge Maroph Ampatuan.
He is a former ally of former Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan Sr., one of the principal accused in the Maguindanao massacre. —Ferdh Cabrera/NB, GMA News
