Batangas, Iloilo, CDO to work together through USAID city development program
The cities of Batangas, Iloilo, and Cagayan de Oro will sign a partnership agreement on Dec. 15 under a USAID program meant to spur the development of second-tier cities as engines of inclusive and sustainable growth.
According to a news release from the US Embassy on Friday, the USAID Cities Development Initiative aims to strengthen the links and reforms of the three cities in investment promotion, health, education, and the environment.
The sisterhood partnership agreement is meant to give the three cities a way to work together and to share ideas and best practices on development.
Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno, Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog, and Batangas City Mayor Eduardo Dimacuha are expected to attend the signing.
Local Government Undersecretary Austere Panadero, Trade Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya and USAID/Philippines Mission Director Gloria Steele will also be at the event. — Andrei Medina/JDS, GMA News
