Man caught in Cebu trying to smuggle shabu onto Bohol-bound ship

 

Authorities in Cebu City over the weekend arrested a man who allegedly tried to smuggle half a kilo of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) aboard a fast craft bound for Bohol.

 

Lean Christon Artiaga was about to board the fast craft heading for Tubigon town but was caught when he refused to put a paper bag he was bringing with him through an x-ray machine, GMA Cebu's Lou-Anne Mae Rondina reported.

 

Because police insisted that Artiaga turn over the bag for inspection, he decided to wait until the fast craft was about to leave.

 

When the bag was finally inspected using the x-ray machine, police found drugs inside it.

 

"Sinamahan namin siya at pinadaan sa x-ray ang dala niyang paper bag. Habang nakatingin ako sa monitor, sinabi ng x-ray operator na positive, merong drugs," said Inspector Joffrie Rosell.

 

Confiscated from the suspect as well were cell phones and two mobile phone batteries.

 

The suspect declined to comment on the incident. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
