Fire razes Capiz school

A fire believed caused by an electrical short circuit razed a school in Roxas City in Capiz province over the weekend.

Tension gripped residents near the main campus of the Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion, GMA Iloilo's Christian Jun Jagorin reported Monday.

Firefighters managed to put out the fire quickly, even as the Capiz Electric Cooperative cut off power to the area.

Initial investigation showed the fire started at 4 p.m. at the room of one Father Gumban, at the school building's second floor.

Arson investigators are now looking into whether an overheating airconditioner or Christmas tree lights may have caused the fire. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
