3 supporters of Nueva Ecija town mayor killed


Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday morning gunned down three supporters, including a village chief, who are loyal to re-electionist Mayor Pacifico Monta of Tayugtug town in Nueva Ecija. Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao, spokesman of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said the victims were coming from a meeting with Monta when the attackers struck. Two of the fatalities were identified as Liberato Ramos, chair of Saverona village, village councilor Juanito Dona and village treasurer Eusebio Jimenez. No further details were immediately available as to how the attack was launched. Central Luzon police were investigating the shooting incident as of posting time, radio station dzBB reported. Talugtug is a fifth-class municipality at northeastern Nueva Ecija with a population of 18,895 people. - GMANews.TV
