DOH Bicol on code white for New Year

The Department of Health in Bicol and hospitals in the region went on Code White Tuesday, in preparation for the New Year festivities.

 

A Code White alert means hospitals and personnel are on alert to quickly attend to medical cases, especially fireworks injuries, GMA Bicol's Maila Aycocho reported.

 

"Handa na ang mga health workers na nariyan. Tapos yung mga gamot lalo na yung kontra tetano, kasi yun ang napakaimportanteng maibibigay kapag may napuputukan," said DOH Bicol regional director Gloria Balboa.

 

Likewise on alert is the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital, one of the sentinel sites of the DOH in the region.

 

In the meantime, the DOH continued to remind the public to avoid using firecrackers so they can welcome 2015 without injury. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
