3-year-old injured by marble gun in Negros Oriental

A three-year-old boy was critically injured after being shot with a marble gun by a 13-year-old neighbor in Negros Oriental province.

The incident occurred in Bayawan City in Negros Oriental province, according to a report by GMA News TV's "News TV Live" on Wednesday.

Initial investigation showed the boy's 13-year-old neighbor played with the gun but it went off and hit the victim in the stomach.

According to the victim's uncle, the gun was owned by the victim's late father.

Marble guns are outlawed in the province after local officials cited the potential dangers of the homemade gun.

In 2012, a report by Negros Chronicle indicated local officials had sought to impose penalties on the use of the marble gun, defined as a locally made gun made of pipe and using marble or rounded objects as projectiles.

The boy's problem for now involves the costs of his medication as his father has died and his mother is working in Metro Manila. —Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
