Vessel trips from Matnog canceled; 2.2k stranded in Bicol due to Storm Amang
(Updated 2:30 p.m.) Trips of sea vessels at Matnog port in Sorsogon were canceled Friday due to bad weather conditions from Tropical Storm Amang (Mekkhala).
Albay Governor Jose Salceda said the cancellation took effect since early Friday, and advised bus drivers to temporarily seek shelter.
"We are now advising bus drivers to temporarily seek shelter at bus terminals instead of proceeding to Matnog for the safety and convenience of passengers," he said on his Facebook account.
Earlier on Friday, Biliran Island authorities also said sea trips there were canceled due to bad weather from Amang.
Amang moved closer to Eastern Visayas before noon Friday and threatens to make landfall on Northern Samar on Saturday.
