DepEd Cebu may get permanent office next month

By February, the Department of Education in Cebu province may finally get its permanent home with the formal donation of the Sudlon lot in Cebu City's Lahug district.

DepEd division superintendent Dr. Arden Monisit said Governor Hilario Davide III may sign an agreement for the donation of the lot by February 6.

Should this push through, Monisit said they will have a “permanent office, a permanent home” for the first time.

“If this donation succeeds, this would be a great help to DepEd because we never had our own office since time immemorial,” Monisit said in Cebuano.

For the past eight years, DepEd Cebu had been only "occupying" the 6,148-square-meter lot.

But once the lot is donated, Monisit said DepEd Cebu can take charge of the building's repair, rehabilitation and maintenance. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
