Costumes, props from recycled materials featured in Panagbenga opener
Costumes and props made of recycled materials were among the attractions of this year's opening parade of Baguio City's Panagbenga flower festival, which started in on Sunday.
Some of the costumes were worn by students of the Baguio SPED Center for the festival opener - the Street Dancing and Drum-and-Lyre competition, GMA Dagupan's Jeesson Alamar reported.
Baguio SPED was one of 12 schools represented in the parade from Panagbenga Park to the Athletic Bowl.
The theme of this year's flower festival is "Panagbenga Across 20 Years, Blossoming Together."
Some two million guests are expected at this year's flower festival, which will finish with a grand street dance and float parade on Feb. 28 and March 1.
Festival organizers explained that the term “Panagbenga” was the Kankanaey word for “season of blooming.” — Joel Locsin/DVM, GMA News
