After deadly fire, CDO court workers seek refuge in city hall

Court employees in Cagayan de Oro have temporarily sought refuge in the local city hall to report back for work, after a fire burned down the Hall of Justice on Friday last week. Two people died in the fire.

The Supreme Court Public Information Office made the announcement on its official Twitter account on Wednesday.

"The trial courts of CDO will be temporarily holding office at the City Tourism Hall, City Hall, CDO," tweeted the SC PIO.

Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno earlier sent three court officials from Manila to visit the area and inspect the temporary site for the executive judges.

At least two people were killed in Friday night's fire—utility worker Jepry Uban and building security guard Benjamin Buna.

Sereno said Uban and Buna were seen rushing into the second floor of the building when black smoke was first seen. — Mark Merueñas/RSJ, GMA News
