Laguindingan airport starts extended operating hours
The Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental province started longer operating hours, from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, so it can accommodate more flights and passengers, according to airport area manager Jose Bodiongan.
Before Tuesday, the airport's operating hours had been from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Bodiongan met with the provincial board during its regular session Monday, GMA Northern Mindanao's Francis Damit reported
Bodiongan said the volume of passengers at Laguindingan Airport declined by 2.37 percent compared to the previous year.
He said most of the passengers preferred to book their flights at Davao, partly because of repairs on the road leading to the airport, and because of the short operating hours.
For now, no airline has night flights at Laguindingan Airport, but Cebu Pacific has committed to have such flights. Night flights could start on March 25 at the earliest, the report said. — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
