5 killed in road mishap in Capiz
What started out as "Market Day" turned into a tragedy after at least five residents were killed in a freak road accident in Dumarao town in Capiz province Tuesday. Radio dzRH reported that the "Ren-Ren" jeep was ferrying about 40 passengers home from Dacuton village to Agpatuan village when the brakes malfunctioned. Police are now tracking down the driver-owner of the jeep, identified as Albert Domingo. Domingo escaped after the accident. While it was not immediately clear what time the incident occurred, initial investigation showed Alberto lost control of the jeep at Astorga village. The jeep ran into a ricefield and turned turtle. The fatalities were initially identified as Norberto delos Santos, Teresita Pilar, Regine Arlao, Lani Bardaga, and Kenneth Bansale, whose skull was reportedly crushed. Injured passengers were rushed to hospitals in nearby Iloilo province, including the Iloilo Provincial Hospital.
