3 face charges for ‘forcing’ minor in Pangasinan to abort baby

At least three people face possible charges for allegedly forcing a 16-year-old girl to abort her baby in Sta. Barbara town in Pangasinan province.

The girl needs to undergo an operation because of the "forced" abortion, GMA Dagupan's Jette Arcellana and Alfie Tulagan reported Friday.

"(S)abi ko bakit ka pumayag? Pinilit po nila ako, sabi niya. Sabi ko sana nagpaalam muna sila bago sila nagdesisyon, sabi ko," said the girl's mother.

An investigation showed the girl saw the fetus Wednesday, when she was urinating.

The mother said the girl had been bleeding and enduring the pain since Sunday.

Sta. Barbara police deputy chief Senior Inspector Francisco Castillo said at least three people may face charges for the forced abortion.

"Pwedeng [amg-file] ng kaso [laban sa] tatlo. Yung nag-abort, yung nagpa-abort, at saka yung lalaki, kasi may consent siya para i-abort ang bata," he said.

In the meantime, the girl's father said he hoped those responsible for his daughter's condition would be conscience-stricken.

"Andito ang batang pinatay mo, dugo mo ito, dugo mo, makokonsensya ka rin," he said. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
