San Fernando City to make 4-km longanisa

Sun.Star: THE San Fernando City once again makes a bid to claim the Longest Longanisa record and make Pampanga the Meat Processing Capital of the country as it stages the Longest Longanisa Festival on Wednesday at the SM City Pampanga Amphitheater in the city. The festival, part of the city's town fiesta celebration with the theme "Pyestang Fernandino 2007: Ganakan ing milabas para king panyulung ning manawang bukas", will try to snatch the record from Baguio City's 3.7 kilometers of longanisa. Pampanga's Best, the largest meat processor in Pampanga, will provide 4.5 to 5 kilometers of longanisa for the city's second attempt to garner the world record. "The annual fiesta celebration is one of the most important cultural, historical and religious events in the city that showcases unique Kapampangan tradition and hospitality," said Agnes Romero, this year's Pyestang Fernandino executive committee chairperson. It is celebrated in honor of St. Ferdinand, the town's patron saint. Other activities lined up in celebration of the town's fiesta include the Binibining Fernandino Pageant, Collectors' Show and Car Show, which were held at SM City Pampanga. There will also be a search for Little Ms. Fernandino, an Off-Road Challenge, a Variety Show, Tri-wheeler race, Serenata, Grand Parade, Children's Day and the Traditional Procession. Sun.Star Pampanga
