Roxas orders PNP to bring ‘Oplan Lambat-Sibat’ to Central Luzon, Calabarzon

Interior Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas on Monday has given the Philippine National Police until the middle of the year to bring the "Oplan Lambat-Sibat" strategy used in Metro Manila to the Central Luzon and Calabarzon regions.

According to a statement from the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Roxas has ordered the PNP to cascade the approach, which it said pairs “deliberate, programmatic and sustained” police operations with "scientific crime reporting".

Among the police operations included in Lambat-Sibat are checkpoints, mobile and beat patrols, and operations against criminals on motorcycles, and against loose firearms.

Roxas has already directed the Police Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) and the Directorate for Operations (DO) tp produce an instruction manual on Lambat-Sibat, which has been implemented in Metro Manila in the last eight and a half months.

“We don’t want them [regions] to start from scratch. We have learned so many lessons from June 16 to today. What we have learned here in the last eight and half months can be cascaded in other parts of the country,” he explained. — JDS, GMA News
