Suspect in killing of CamSur governor’s cousin surrenders

A suspect in the fatal shooting of a cousin of Camarines Sur Governor Miguel Villafuerte in Milaor town earlier this month surrendered to police over the weekend.

Emmanuel Rey surrendered to police in Albay, who then turned him over to police in Camarines Sur, GMA Bicol reported on Tuesday.

Last week, Emmanuel and his twin Eusebio were linked to the killing after initial reports indicated they fled after the shooting.

The governor offered a P200,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspects in the killing of his cousin Jeffrey inside a cockpit in Milaor.

Jeffrey Villafuerte, 30, had died from three gunshot wounds from a 9-mm pistol. Wounded in the shooting was cockpit collector Allan Balona.

The GMA Bicol report said Emmanuel sought police protection, claiming his life is in danger.

Emmanuel and Eusebio both face murder charges for the March 2 killing.

While Emmanuel declined to give a comment on his situation, his family had asked the Villafuerte family for forgiveness.

— Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
