TPLEX to collect toll on Carmen-Urdaneta section starting March 17

Motorists on the Carmen-Urdaneta section of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) will have to start paying to use the toll road starting March 17, Tuesday.

That stretch of TPLEX was opened to motorists toll-free last December, GMA Dagupan reported Thursday.

According to TPLEX management, Class 1 (light) vehicles such as cars and jeeps will have to pay a toll of P124, if traveling between La Paz (Tarlac) and Urdaneta City.

Class 2 vehicles such as trucks and buses will have to pay a P540 toll.

The toll has the approval of the Toll Regulatory Board and Department of Public Works and Highways.

Meanwhile, some motorists said they had no problem with having to pay the toll.

"Walang problema, basta madali lang sa pagkukuha ng gulay," said motorist Chona Suba. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
