WATCH: Motorcycle-riding men gun down trader in Davao City

A businessman was gunned down inside his parked sport utility vehicle in Davao City Thursday night after motorcycle-riding men peppered his vehicle with bullets.

Killed was Wilbur Regan Chua, 33, who was inside his car parked at Avanceña Street, GMA Davao's Jan Bautista reported on "Una Ka Bai!!!" Friday.

Police are analyzing closed-circuit television footage given by a local trader.

In the footage, a copy of which was obtained by GMA News Davao, two men aboard a black motorcycle got near the victim's SUV, then opened fire on him.

After the assault, the suspects fled, followed by another man – believed to be acting as lookout – aboard a blue motorcycle.

The CCTV footage also showed the men left but returned after a few minutes, and opened fire on the victim anew.

"Aalalayan ko sana (ang biktima) sa pag-park, tapos may dumaan na motorsiklo. Ilang saglit lang, may putukan na kaya hindi na ako nakalapit," said security guard Memerto Gentapa.

Witness Ricky Dimaano said he heard gunshots then saw two motorcycles.

Barangay 9-A captain Tata Llubit said the victim has had brushes with other people in the area.

"May mga natanggap akong sumbong na na-involve nga raw siya (biktima) sa drugs. May nagsabi rin na kaaway niya lahat na kapitbahay niya, mga personal na away raw," Llubit said.

Recovered from the crime scene were a handgun, a license, a handheld radio, money, and a small sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) and drug paraphernalia.

"Iimbestigahan pa natin. We cannot speculate at this time so please give us time to investigate," said Davao City police chief Senior Superintendent Vicente Danao. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
