Pregnant ‘drug dealer’ falls in Davao City sting

Despite her condition, a woman nine months pregnant was caught selling illegal drugs in Davao City over the weekend.

The woman admitted to selling drugs following the sting operation at Barangay 31-D on Sunday, GMA Davao reported on Monday.

Found in her possession were six sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth P108,000.

"Hindi ko naman masasabing big time siya. Pero malaking (halaga) din ang dinadala niya. Kung titingnan mo, parang hindi ka makapaniwala na nagbebenta siya because of her condition. Pero yan talaga ang kabuhayan niya," said Sta. Ana district police head Superintendent Royina Garma.

The woman admitted to selling drugs but insisted it was only to make ends meet for her and her child.

"Huli na ito ngayon kasi manganganak na rin ako," she said.

Police found that her husband had also been jailed supposedly for selling drugs.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested Sunday a suspected big-time drug dealer believed to operate in Central and Southern Mindanao.

The PDEA served an arrest warrant on Marcus Bua, suspected head of the Bua drug group, at his house in Barangay Maa in Davao City.

Recovered from Bua's house was a jumbo sachet of drugs worth P450,000.

Investigation showed Bua would get his supply from Manila.

"Ma-consider natin siyang drug lord kasi kumbaga siya ang nagfi-finance sa buong operation dito, Central Mindanao and dito rin sa Davao City, Davao region," PDEA Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao chief operations officer Marvin Mendoza said.

However, Bua said he was being set up by his political foes as he once served as councilor of Kabuntalan in Maguindanao.

"Pinag-iinitan nila ako... sa mga gawain nila. Tapos gusto nila ako ididiin nila," he said.

The PDEA also arrested Bua's wife for further investigation. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
