Fish in Ilocos Sur dying due to hot weather
Fish cage owners in Ilocos Sur are in a bind on what to do after the hot weather has caused their prized fish to die.
In Caoayan town, the fish kill forced owners to harvest early, GMA Ilocos' Manny Morales reported on GMA News TV's "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon."
The lost opportunities prompted fish cage owners to dry the dead fish and to harvest the surviving ones even if they are not fully grown yet.
"Hindi pa sana ngayon maka-harvest ang mga ito pero nag-harvest na kami nang sapilitan kesa mamatay pa," said fish cage owner Efren delos Santos.
Water shortage in Abra
Meanwhile, the heat has made it harder for residents of San Quintin town in Abra to get drinking water.
Some wells have run dry, with residents having to go far to gather water for drinking.
Local health authorities have advised residents to make sure their source of water is clean. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
