2 elderly women killed in Batangas fire

Two elderly women were killed in a predawn fire in a barangay in Rosario, Batangas, a police report said Wednesday morning.

Killed in the fire were widow Librada C. Lucero, 82, and Aurea C. Balila, 86, single, the Rosario Municipal Police Station said.  

An initial investigation showed the fire hit the house of the victims in Barangay Chigam early morning of April 1.

The police said they received a telephone call at about 2:20 a.m. from PO3 Joseph Inandan, informing the station about the fire.

He said the fire started as about 12:30 a.m. from the kitchen area of the wooden house of the victims.

Fire marshals led by SFO4 Pedro Agarao of Rosario fire station said the fire was put out at about 1:34 a.m.  — LBG, GMA News
