Two soldiers dead, six others wounded in landmine explosion in Surigao Del Sur

Two soldiers were killed while six others were wounded after a landmine exploded in Barangay Caromata, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur on Wednesday night.

The fatalities were identified as Sgt Luisito Marimon and Corporal Rey Gerson of the 4th Field Artillery Batallion of the Army Artillery Regiment.

One of the wounded was Private First Class Jayson Almazan also of the same unit.

The five other wounded are from the 41st Division Reconnaisance Company under the 4th Infantry Division.

"The troops were displacing the artillery tubes back to its main fire base for close trail as part of its observance of the Lenten Season," the Army said in a statement. -NB, GMA News
