Caticlan-bound plane returns to Cebu to offload sick passenger
A plane bound for Caticlan was forced to return to the Mactan Cebu International Airport over the Holy Week after one of its passengers got sick and needed medical attention.
The incident happened shortly after 1 p.m. of Maundy Thursday, GMA Cebu's Chona Carreon reported on Monday.
One of the Cebu Pacific flight's female passengers had difficulty breathing. The airline's policy is to return to the airport of origin or land in the nearest airport if the oxygen tank is at half level.
Many passengers were surprised at the pilot's announcement that the plane would be turning back.
After the plane landed at the Mactan Cebu International Airport, teams rushed the female passenger to a nearby hospital.
The plane managed to take off after 15 minutes and arrived safely in Caticlan, the gateway to Boracay, shortly after 3 p.m. —Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
