Teen stumbles on vintage bomb in Aklan beach
It was not the bombshell one would expect to see at a beach.
A teenager chanced upon a World War II vintage bomb while bathing at a beach in Aklan province GMA Bacolod stringer Jun Aguirre reported Wednesday.
The 17-year-old informed police after stepping on - and seeing - the bomb at the beach of Barangay Tambak in New Washington town.
SPO4 Vengie Repedro of the Explosives and Ordnance Division said the bomb was brought to the Aklan Provincial Police Office for examination.
Repedro said the teen was lucky the bomb did not explode.
Police theorized the bomb was used in World War II but failed to explode because it landed on a soft part of the beach.
The Aklan police is planning to dispose of the bomb later this year. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
