Fewer dengue cases in Zamboanga City in 1st quarter 2015
Zamboanga City registered significantly fewer dengue cases in the first quarter of 2015, compared to the same period last year.
City Health Officer Dr. Rodelin Agbulos noted 347 cases in the first three months of 2015 compared to 704 in the same period in 2014.
The 347 in 2015 included 172 in January, 131 in February, and 44 in March. The 704 in 2014 included 304 in January, 235 in February, and 165 in March.
However, the CHO remains on alert and will monitor cases and implement preventive measures, including information drives and advocacies.
“We are already very vigilant,” said Agbulos.
Meanwhile, Agbulos reminded residents to properly cover stored water to prevent dengue-carrying mosquitos from laying eggs in the water.
