Senior citizen arrested for alleged rape of 3-year-old grandchild

A senior citizen was arrested in Mapandan town in Pangasinan for allegedly raping his three-year-old grandchild, GMA News TV's "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon" reported on Thursday.

 

The suspect was nabbed after the victim's mother caught him and sought police assistance, GMA Dagupan's Jette Arcellana said.

 

But the suspect denied the allegations even after a medico-legal test showed the victim was abused.

 

"Wala, wala akong ginawa. Wala akong ginawa," the suspect said when asked to comment on the allegations against him.


 

 

Investigation showed the suspect may have raped the three-year-old at least twice.

 

After the first incident, the three-year-old told her mother what happened, but the mother's siblings convinced her not to pursue charges.

 

But in the second incident, the girl's mother caught the suspect molesting her, and promptly reported the incident to police.  — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
