Bicol vice mayor eyes politics behind attack

A vice mayor-elect of Jovellar town in Albay province believes politics may be behind Monday's attack by armed men that killed his brother and left him injured. Radio station dzRH reported Tuesday that Vice Mayor Gilbert Clemente also claimed that he can identify one of the three assailants. He did not elaborate, but said he was convinced that politics was the motive for the attack that killed his brother Aldrin, a village councilor. Clemente said he and Aldrin were on their way to the town plaza at about 1:45 p.m. Monday when three men approached them and opened fire. The vice mayor-elect said he managed to dodge the bullets but his brother was not as lucky as the latter sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. One attacker punched the vice mayor-elect in the face before fleeing. Aldrin died before doctors at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital could attend to him. - GMANews.TV
