Police seek leads in IED explosion in Surigao City mall on Sunday

An improvised bomb exploded at the Gaisano Mall in Surigao City on Sunday afternoon.

The bomb had been placed in a trash can in a restroom on the second floor, GMA News stringer Louie Oranda reported. Nobody was reported hurt in the blast.

 

Investigation showed the IED was triggered using a cell phone.

 

Police Region Office 13 information officer Supt. Martin Gamba said investigators and Scene of the Crime Operations teams found traces of a blasting cap.

 

"Most probably na blasting cap lang sumabog at wala itong explosive charge," Gamba said.
