Cops file raps vs. 9 for Easter Sunday killing of 3 in Masbate

Charges of robbery with homicide have been filed against nine people for the gruesome killing of a businessman and two others in Masbate last Easter Sunday, the Masbate police said Wednesday.

The Masbate police said the charges were filed before the Masbate Provincial Prosecutors Office against the nine linked to the killing of Jesus “Ka Isong” Amaro and his companions.

In a post on its social media account, the Masbate police said a carnapping case was also filed against the suspects for taking Amaro's sport-utility vehicle and using it as their getaway vehicle.

Amaro's SUV was abandoned in Barangay Matipuron in Milagros town in Masbate.

Earlier reports indicated Amaro was gunned down by heavily armed men allegedly wearing police uniforms in Barangay Luya, Aroroy, last Easter Sunday.

Amaro’s son Boyet and their driver were also killed.

One of those charged was identified as Randy Ogad, with last known residences at Barangay Urban Poor and Purok 3 Mancruz in Daet, Camarines Norte.

Police said Ogad is included in the Bicol regional police's list of most wanted persons, with a reward of P90,000 for information leading to his arrest.

Investigators said witnesses had identified photos of wanted persons, including that of Ogad.

A record check also showed Ogad was charged with murder in 2008, with the case pending before the Sorsogon City regional trial court. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
