New NBI satellite center in Cebu can serve 900 a day

Good news for applicants for National Bureau of Investigation clearances in Cebu: a new satellite center has been opened at a mall in Cebu City.

 

The new satellite office is expected to shorten the queues at the NBI regional office in the capitol area, GMA Cebu's Vic Serna reported Wednesday.

 

One applicant, Ira Yap, got her NBI clearance in as little as 30 minutes from the satellite office that opened Tuesday.

 

In the new facility are four computers to be used for processing clearance applications.

 

NBI Central Visayas regional director Ricardo Diaz said the facility can serve up to 900 applicants for new clearances and clearance renewals a day.

 

However, foreigners will still have to have their applications processed at the regional office for manual fingerprinting.

 

Aside from the new satellite office, the NBI has other satellite clearance centers in Mandaue, Naga and Bogo Cities in Cebu.  — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
