PNP satellite office for firearms licenses opens in Cebu

Responsible gun owners in Central Visayas will now have an easier time getting their licenses, after the Philippine National Police opened a satellite office to process applications for such documents.

The PNP Civil Security Group and Firearms and Explosives Office opened the satellite office following consultations with legitimate gun holders, GMA Cebu's Chona Carreon reported Wednesday.

With the new satellite office processing applications for License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF), the police expect a decline in the number of loose firearms.

"Doon sa streamlining, maraming mga options yun po yung ating inirerekomeda and once approved i-implement kaagad natin ito," said Director Melito Mabilin, head of the PNP Civil Security Group 7.

Gun owner Narciso Gedorio said the satellite office would be favorable for him since he does not have to travel all the way to Metro Manila just to get a license.

"Favorable sa amin ito, hindi na namin kailangang pumunta sa Manila," he said. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
