Albay bans swimming in beaches due to Typhoon Dodong
Tourists in Albay province were prohibited from swimming in beach resorts there due to the threat from Typhoon Dodong (Noul).
However, tourists are not barred from visiting the beach resorts at this time, radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported Friday noon.
APSEMO head Cedric Daep was quoted in the report as saying this is part of the province's "regulated countermeasures" to ensure safety amid the threat from Dodong.
State weather agency PAGASA had placed Albay and six other areas under Signal No. 1 as of 11 a.m. Friday due to Dodong.
Dodong is expected to bring heavy rain to parts of Luzon and may possibly make landfall in parts of Northern Luzon during the weekend. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
