Coast Guard: PHL, Japanese divers rescued off Boracay
A dive master and a Japanese national were stranded for two hours off world-famous Boracay Island before they were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard last Tuesday.
Rescued by a team of the BRP San Juan (SARV-001) were dive master Darwin Tejada, 22; and Jinichi Okada, 36, who went diving southeast off Boracay Island.
The Coast Guard, in a post on its website Thursday, said the BRP San Juan was conducting a maritime security patrol at the east section of Boracay Island when its crew chanced on the two about two nautical miles southeast off Bulaboc Point, Boracay Island.
A rescue team brought the divers to safety and transferred them aboard SARV-001 for immediate medical assistance.
Medical team leader Commander Alexis Calderon declared the rescued divers in good physical condition.
Tejada and Okada said they were stranded after surfacing from their dive and could not find their motor banca.
Both were turned over to their diving school. — Joel Locsin/BM, GMA News
