Fetus abandoned at Iloilo city plaza

A fetus placed inside a plastic bag was discovered at a local plaza in Iloilo City's Arevalo district early Wednesday.

 

Resident Alfredo Dingong Jr. was cleaning when he chanced on the plastic bag, GMA Iloilo's Joecel Huesca reported Thursday.

 

Dingong said he first thought the plastic bag contained meat, but was surprised to see a fetus that he estimated was seven to eight months old.

 

"Ulo at paa ang nahawakan ko. Sabi ko ... sigurado bata ito. Sabi ko, pakibukas Boss dahil natatakot ako," he said.

 

Local residents who saw the fetus believe the mother planned the abortion, and expressed their dismay over the child's death.

 

"Walang kaawa-awa. 'Yung iba nga todo 'yung effort na magkaanak dahil mabuti talaga kung may anak," said resident Dolzara Valgomera.

 

The fetus was given a blessing inside the Arevalo parish church and then buried.

 

"Planado talaga. Tingnan mo o, binalot pa talaga," said Barangay Sta. Felomina captain Cecilia Baylen. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
