Cebu elementary school OIC caught in anti-drug operation


An OIC of a Cebu public school may not be able to greet his students at the start of the school year next week.

Reynante Aliñabon, 39, was arrested Tuesday in an anti-drug operation in Badian town in Cebu, GMA Cebu's Chona Carreon reported Wednesday.

Police caught Aliñabon, OIC of Santicon Elementary School, in the act of using illegal drugs.

The Cebu provincial police office's intelligence branch also arrested four other people including Niño James Pondoc, Salvador Pallero Jr., and brothers Isagani and Baltazar Bontilao.

Provincial police intelligence unit head Superintendent Rodulfo Albotra said they received information Aliñabon was among those suspected of using drugs.

Buy-bust

Police first arrested Pondoc, a suspected pusher in the area, in a sting operation. Pondoc admitted to his involvement in the drug trade.

After the operation, Albotra asked the Department of Education in Cebu to have teachers undergo drug tests. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
