Sun.Star: Cops rescue kidnapped trader in Davao


Police rescued a kidnapped gas station owner and killed at least four members of a kidnap-for-ransom gang, including a rogue policeman, following an encounter in Davao Tuesday afternoon. Sun-Star Davao reported Wednesday afternoon that the four fatalities were members of the Balbacua Gang, who were killed at the Spring Valley Subdivision in Buhangin, Davao. Rescued was Edgar Barroso, owner of a "Flying V" gasoline station in Panacan district in Davao. Barroso was abducted at 2 p.m. Sunday. Buhangin police said the encounter took place past 5 p.m. Tuesday, and involved the police Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG), Davao City Police Office (DCPO), and Regional Mobile Group (RMG). Initial reports showed the police cornered the kidnappers at Block 7, Lot 29, Spring Valley Subdivision, Buhangin. Two of those killed were initially identified as P02 Jaime Telebangco of the RMG-Region 11; and former Army soldier Jessie Muit. - GMANews.TV
