Vice mayor of Jones, Isabela shot dead in town hall
The vice mayor of Jones town in Isabela and a security aide of a local councilor were gunned down at the town's session hall Friday.
Killed were Jones Vice Mayor Florante Raspado and a security aide of a member of the Sangguniang Bayan, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.
Citing initial information from the Isabela provincial police, Juego said the shooting occurred inside the session hall.
The security aide was identified as that of Councilor Lanie Uy. His name has yet to be determined as of posting time.
Patrick Sacama, a consultant of Raspado, told dzBB radio the vice mayor was shot in the head.
Sacama said at least one man wearing what he described as a military uniform entered the session hall and shot Raspado.
"Sa session hall, may mga pumasok na armado nakasuot ng uniporme ng sundalo at pinagbabaril si Vice Mayor Raspado," he said.
Meanwhile, pursuit operations are ongoing against the suspects who were last seen heading for Quirino province. -Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
