2 missing as fishing boat sinks off Palawan coast
(Updated 12:10 p.m.) Two men were reported missing Friday after a fishing boat with 24 people on board capsized off the coast of Agutaya town in Palawan. All the people on board the fishing vessel Timothy Monalinda 48 Dalton were fishermen. It is owned and operated by RBL Fishing Corp. Lieutenant Terrence Alzosa, Coast Guard commander for its Cuyo station, identified the two missing men as Robert Caparo and Reynaldo Lagrio. The incident occurred along the vicinity of Quinloban Island in Agutaya. In a statement, the Coast Guard said that the vessel was fishing in the area with other ships when one fisherman "accidentally dropped" one of fishing net weights, causing the vessel "to list and to subsequently capsize." It added that the other 22 crew members including the ship captain were transferred to "their sister ships." Alzosa has ordered his men to conduct search and rescue operations. Skies over Puerto Princesa City, the provincial capital, were overcast. - GMANews.TV
