3 people killed in Calamba City ambush — police
Three people were killed in a shooting incident on a national highway in Calamba City on Wednesday evening, a police official said Thursday.
Senior Superintendent Florendo Saligao, Laguna Provincial Police director, identified the fatalities as Rolly L. Fajardo, a businessman of Barangay Bunggo; Thomas Andaya, also of same barangay; and Marciliano C. Batan Jr, a personal body guard and a resident of Alaminos City in Pangasinan.
An initial police investigation showed the three were ambushed at about 7:30 p.m. on a highway in Barangay Bagong Kalsada, Saligao said.
Also, he said the victims were on an Audi Sedan (AAZ 1435) and on the road coming from Camp Eldridge in Los Banos, Laguna, when a white car blocked their way. Then unidentified men, armed with long firearms, opened fire at the victims in front of 7/11 convenience store.
Fajardo and Andaya sustained gunshot wounds in their bodies, while Batan, also wounded, manged to return fire, drove, and ramped the victims vehicle on the sidewalk, the report reaching Saligao indicated.
Moreover, the report said the suspects immediately fled towards Calamba proper.
Meanwhile, it said the victims were immediately rushed to the Calamba Medical Center but were later declared dead due to their fatal wounds.
Saligao said a "Dragnet operation" was immediately undertaken to track down the suspects. — LBG, GMA News
