6 hurt in Pangasinan lightning strike

At least six people were injured, one of them seriously, after lightning struck in separate incidents in Villasis town in Pangasinan on Tuesday.

Five of the injured took shelter in a hut in the middle of a field during a downpour in Barangay Capulaan when lightning struck, GMA Dagupan's Joyce Segui reported.

In critical condition was Ronnie Marcos. Also injured were twins Rolando and Reynaldo Sadang; Bryan Amador; and Arnel Mortera.

"[Nag]kwentuhan lang kami, kumidlat. Sa tabi ko natamaan (ang) poste, wasak," Ronaldo said.

In the second incident, tricycle driver Roy Manzano suffered burns in his body after being hit by lightning while taking shelter under an acacia tree in Barangay Poblacion.

"Hindi naman direct hit, burn sa katawan," said town police head Chief Inspector Jesus Manalo.

The local government will extend aid to the victims. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
