3 boats carrying coco lumber capsize off Aurora amid Storm Egay’s wrath

Three boats carrying some 500 pieces of coco lumber capsized in Casiguran, Aurora on Sunday due to the strong winds from Severe Tropical Storm Egay.

All the operators were safe, but the motor boats were destroyed, a report on "News TV Live" said.

The coco lumber came from Barangay Cozo and were to be transported to the town's dock.

Storm signal no. 1 was raised over in Aurora and nearby provinces when the boats' operators decided to leave the port as the sea appeared to be calm.

But the winds picked up when they were in the middle of the sea, an operator was quoted by the report as saying.

Fishermen near in the area helped in recovering the boats and the lumber after the incident, the report said. — Marisse Panaligan/LBG, GMA News
