A drinking spree turned deadly for at least three persons who ate a dish of fried fish during a drinking spree in Marinduque province over the weekend. Radio dzEC reported Monday that the incident took place in Pag-asa-Masaguisi village in Sta. Cruz town in Marinduque, a second-class town with 60,055 people in 12,014 households. Chief Superintendent Napoleon Cachuela, regional director for Southern Luzon-B, initially identified the fatalities as Paquito Mendiola, 66; Sabino Pastoral, 53; and Luisito Rio Florendo, 51. Those rushed to a nearby hospital included Romeo Ramento, 33; Erlinda Mendiola, 56; Basilia Guiting, 66; Melquiadel Rodil, 49; and Corazon Pastoral. Investigator-on-case PO3 Reynaldo Palmores said an initial inspection at the victims' house showed the food on their table included liquor, hotcakes, noodles, fried tulingan, and ginitaan. Palmores said they suspect the fried fish to be poisoned. He did not say if they suspect the fish could have been caught at a red tide area. - GMANews.TV
