47 World War II-era bombs unearthed at construction site in Pangasinan town
At least 47 bombs from World War II were unearthed in a field in Barangay Pinmilapil in Sison town in Pangasinan this week.
Laborers unearthed one of the bombs while doing construction work for a house in the area, GMA Dagupan's Joanne Ponsoy reported Wednesday.
"May ginagawang bahay sa lugar kaya nakahukay," said Pangasinan police operations and plans branch head Superintendent Benjamin Ariola.
The bombs were found five feet underground.
"Delikado ito kasi baka kapag mali ang pagkakagalaw, anytime pwedeng sumabog, bala ito ng kanyon," Ariola said.
Bomb experts said the construction site could have been an American or Japanese camp during World War II.
Police transported the bombs to the provincial police headquarters.
"Sakaling may mahahanap na ganito, mainam pa rin na ipagbigay alam sa mga eksperto," Ariola said. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
